Ring in the New Year Calgary Style

Calgary is a great place to ring in the new year and this year’s forecast is looking pretty good, especially after this week’s deep freeze.  If you haven’t made any plans yet, it’s not too late.  Check out this list of fun things that await on the last day of 2022.

Fireworks
Calgary Fireworks show
Head down to Olympic Plaza and ring in the New Year with fireworks from the top of the Calgary Tower and a soundtrack from CJSW 90.9 FM. The soundtrack will feature Canadian artists DJ Shub, The Corey Hotline, Sureshock & Miss Fudge, plus Arkells, Coeur de Pirate, Aly, & AJ, and Caity Gyorgy. Fireworks go off at midnight. This event will also be live-streamed.
Airdrie Fireworks show 
Celebrate New Year’s Eve and bring in the new year with beautiful fireworks at 6:30 pm at East Lake Park in Airdrie behind Genesis Place. 
Okotoks Fireworks show
Head to Lineham Park, 33 Mountain Street in Okotoks to see some fireworks to help ring in the new year.  The show starts at 7 pm!

Family Fun
Zooyear’s eve
You’ll be able to enjoy all the fun of ZOOLIGHTS, presented by Olympia Trust Company, with extra special activities added to help you ring in the New Year including numerous countdowns and a Zoo Year’s Eve light show so your little ones don’t have to stay up too late to partake in the fun! This ticketed event takes place at the Calgary Zoo from 5-9 on December 31st. Flames v. Canucks at the DomeThis is going to be a good one!  Head to the Dome to catch all the action, puck drops at 8 pm!
A Luminous New Year’s Eve
Luminous Voices is thrilled to return to the Bella Concert Hall stage for our annual New Year’s Eve tradition. Weaving together unaccompanied choral gems spanning the centuries, you will hear our voices echo through the hall allowing space and time for reflection, celebration and renewal. This ticketed show starts at 8:00 PM at the Bella Concert Hall, at Mt. Royal University.
The Circle K classic U18AAA Tournament
How about some more hockey? The AAA Midget World Invitational Hockey Tournament is a weeklong invitational tournament featuring top tier teams from Canada, the United States, and Europe competing to take home the championship trophy. Check out their website to learn more.
Airdrie Festival of Lights 
Explore this beautiful, outdoor walk-through lights experience, with about a million dollars worth of displays and other special features.
Sparkle Sparkle 
Walk through a massive shimmering winter palace, snap a photo with Santa in his robot workshop, experience a glittery universe, enjoy a sweet treat from the Sugar Shack, shop in the Spark Store for that perfect science-inspired gift, or grab a glowing drink. There is something for everyone!
Legacy Christmas Light Parade 
Experience the magic of the holidays with your family in Legacy’s winter wonderland.
Christmas Lights at Spruce Meadows 
The 2-kilometer drive through the grounds includes Tournament Lane, The Courtyard, Traffic Circle, the Nations Flag Park, Congress Hall, Riders Chapel, and the Pond with strings of lights measuring 72 kilometers.
Lions Festival of Lights
The Festival of Lights is the largest FREE drive-by Christmas Lights showcase in Calgary.Christmas Glow Calgary – Guests will experience a family-friendly outdoor Christmas festival with towering light gardens and magical landscapes, all under more than a million lights.
